At St. Joseph’s the celebration of the Holy Sacraments are a central part of our school year. During their time here, our baptised Catholic children can receive the Sacraments of Reconciliation and Holy Communion.

The children have an excellent understanding of how taking part in these sacraments provide a greater relationship between themselves and God.

Reconciliation

All baptised Catholic children in Year 3 receive the Sacrament of Reconciliation in preparation for receiving their Holy Communion in the summer term.

Our parish priest Fr Owen provides Reconciliation in school to the children from Year 3 upwards during Advent and Lent. Our school Chaplain Mrs Pelos supports the children to examine their conscience before Reconciliation.

Holy Communion

Following Reconciliation, parish volunteers prepare the children in Year 3 for their first Holy Communion, supported by the class teacher.

To mark this significant sacrament, we hold a celebratory mass in school for the children. The children attend regular masses in church and in school providing them an opportunity to receive Holy Communion.

This sacrament is widely celebrated by the entire school and parish community.
