Intent
Our Science curriculum stimulates pupil’s curiosity, develops their sense of enquiry and their understanding of the world around them. Our curriculum targets all of the National Curriculum objectives for Science in all year groups to enable children to make good progress from EYFS to Year 6. Science is taught through companion projects alongside our main Cornerstones curriculum topics. The companion projects focus on the three aspects of science; biology, chemistry and physics.
Children will be supported and challenged to know more and remember more enabling them to reach end of year expectations. Working scientifically is taught throughout each unit of work with ample opportunities for children to use their reading skills in research and their mathematical skills when measuring, recording and analysing data.
Implementation
· Our long-term plan has been developed to ensure scientific knowledge and skills are built upon year on year.
· In lessons children will complete flashback questions to revisit prior knowledge to enable children to remember scientific facts.
· Children will be able to build on prior knowledge and link ideas together, enabling them to question and become enquiry-based learners.
· Cross curricular links will be made wherever possible.

· Practical Tasks
· End of topic assessments are completed to give an accurate insight in to the children’s knowledge.
